Algiers, Algeria | May 30, 2024 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune embarked on a significant working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Khenchela on Thursday, emphasizing the end of prolonged project delays and the start of efficient execution.
Inauguration of the Khenchela-Aïn Beïda Railway Line
President Tebboune began his visit by inaugurating the 51-kilometer railway line connecting Khenchela to Aïn Beïda in Oum-El-Bouaghi. Designed for speeds up to 160 km/h, this new line was constructed by reputable national companies known for their expertise.
During the ceremony, President Tebboune commended the efforts that made the project a reality: “This project has become a reality today, proving wrong those who thought it was merely an electoral promise,” he stated. He emphasized the shift towards efficient project timelines: “The era where projects dragged on for years is behind us, thanks to the dedication of our senior officials.”
Launch of the Doubling of RN 88
President Tebboune continued his tour by inaugurating the doubling of National Road 88 (RN 88), which spans 56 kilometers and links the wilayas of Batna and Khenchela. Initiated at the end of 2021 with a budget of 2 billion DA, this critical project was completed by three national companies overcoming various challenges.
Economic and Developmental Impact
The new road is vital for the residents of Khenchela, offering a faster route to Batna and subsequently to the East-West Highway. This development is expected to stimulate economic growth, enhance regional development, and facilitate easier movement for citizens.
President Tebboune’s visit and the inauguration of these key infrastructure projects mark a pivotal moment in Algeria’s development trajectory.
