Dakar, Senegal – September 22, 2023– In a significant step towards promoting Algerian products and fostering economic ties with African nations, the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports (Safex) inaugurated a sprawling permanent exhibition in Dakar, Senegal. Spanning 1,800 square meters, this exhibition showcases the diverse offerings of nearly 60 Algerian exhibitors from various sectors, highlighting the country’s commitment to expanding its presence in the African market.

Karim Boukadoum, Director General of Safex, emphasized the exhibition’s role as a vital hub for both public and private Algerian companies seeking to access African markets. He stated, “This exhibition is intended to be a hub for national public and private companies to access the markets of African countries. We aim to promote Algerian products and skills across different sectors and facilitate the creation of joint Algerian-Senegalese ventures and collaborations with other African countries based on a win-win approach.”

The grand opening ceremony was held with distinguished guests in attendance, including the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni; the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid; Ansou Souba Badji, Director of Foreign Trade at the Senegalese Ministry of Trade, Consumption, and SMEs; and Saliou Keita, Director General of the International Center for Foreign Trade in Senegal (CICES). The event was also attended by Khaled Zohret Bouhalouan, the Algerian Ambassador to Senegal, and Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA).

Prior to the inauguration of the exhibition, another significant milestone was achieved with the launch of the “Algerian Bank of Senegal.” This marks the second Algerian bank approved abroad, following the inauguration of the “Algerian Union Bank” in Nouakchott, Mauritania, just a day earlier. These dual initiatives underscore Algeria’s commitment to expanding its economic presence in the African continent and fostering collaboration with neighboring nations.

As the permanent exhibition unfolds its doors in Dakar, it not only showcases the richness of Algerian products but also serves as a symbol of Algeria’s dedication to bolstering trade relationships with Senegal and the broader African market. With an array of national exhibitors and a strategic focus on cooperation, this initiative is poised to stimulate economic growth and mutual prosperity across the region.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors, investors, and business representatives, offering a unique opportunity to explore the potential for Algerian-Senegalese collaborations and trade partnerships.
