Algeria-Qatar Collaboration: Transformative Success in Bellara Steel Complex Defies Skeptics

ALGIERS- In a statement during his visit to the Bellara steel complex in the Jijel province, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, emphasized the exceptional success of the inter-Arab partnership. Aoun declared the collaboration a remarkable achievement, sending a clear message to skeptics who doubted its potential failure.
Highlighting the Algerian-Qatari partnership, specifically in the Bellara steel complex, Aoun commended the efforts that have turned Algeria from an importer of materials a few years ago to an exporter. He praised the visionary steps taken by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, underscoring the transformative journey of the nation.
The Algerian-Qatari Steel company, operating in the Bellara complex, showcased its success by exporting over 700,000 tons of reinforcing steel and steel coils in 2023, with a total value exceeding $400 million. This marked an impressive increase of more than 150% compared to the previous year, demonstrating the flourishing outcomes of the collaboration on the international stage.
Minister Aoun urged the leadership to move forward to the next phase of the project, emphasizing the importance of sustaining this success and avoiding a return to reliance on imports. He expressed optimism about the future of the Bellara complex, especially with the upcoming operationalization of the Gara Djebilet mine.
Aoun called on officials to integrate materials from the Gara Djebilet mine into the production process, emphasizing the significance of maintaining high-quality standards for the finished products. The minister’s statements project a positive outlook for the Algerian-Qatari partnership, showcasing it as a response to doubters and a testament to the country’s industrial and economic progress.
