Algiers, Algeria | June 15th, 2024 — The Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) launched a caravan of aid on Saturday in Relizane, targeting 1,000 families across more than ten communes in the wilaya.
ARC President Ibtissam Hamlaoui, along with local authorities, presided over the launch in the town of Oued R’hiou (Relizane). The aid caravan comprises 1,000 food kits, medical supplies, and clothing for Eid.
On this occasion, medical equipment and bedding were delivered to the health clinics in the douars of Grainia in the commune of Lahlaf, and Ghadaouda in the commune of Ramka.
In a statement to the press, Ms. Hamlaoui emphasized that “this solidarity initiative, which will reach various regions of the country, aims to provide assistance and support to residents of remote and underserved areas, particularly in terms of healthcare services by supplying medical equipment to strengthen local clinics.”
She indicated that the ARC has undertaken the task of equipping 50 health clinics located in remote regions nationwide, with half of the program already completed. Additionally, four ambulances have been distributed, with another eight expected to be delivered this summer.
During her visit to the Quranic school at the “Sidi Bouabdallah” zawiya in the commune of Oued R’hiou, the president of the Algerian Red Crescent distributed 200 food kits, blankets, and bedding to this religious institution, which is attended by students from various regions of the wilaya.
Furthermore, she announced the planning of similar solidarity actions in the coming days for other areas.
