Massive Humanitarian Operation Launched Ahead of Ramadan to Support Those in Need

Algiers, Algeria | February 19th, 2025 — As part of its ongoing efforts to uphold social solidarity, the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) has announced the distribution of more than 150,000 food parcels to vulnerable families across the country in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan. This large-scale humanitarian operation, meticulously coordinated at the ARC’s central warehouse, reflects the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting low-income households during a period marked by heightened financial strain.

With Ramadan approaching, the ARC has intensified logistical preparations to ensure the timely delivery of aid to all 58 provinces. Convoys carrying essential food supplies are being dispatched in successive waves, reaching families in remote and underserved areas. The initiative underscores the organization’s pivotal role in national humanitarian efforts, reinforcing its dedication to alleviating food insecurity and fostering social cohesion.

Beyond food distribution, the ARC’s Ramadan campaign will encompass additional social assistance programs, including iftar (fast-breaking) meal initiatives, medical aid, and targeted support for the elderly, orphans, and people with disabilities. These efforts are made possible through the mobilization of thousands of volunteers, as well as partnerships with public institutions, the private sector, and philanthropic donors who have rallied behind this noble cause.
