Algerian Red Crescent President Hamlaoui Joins Monumental Communal Iftar Spanning Across Algiers Downtown

ALGIERS- The municipality of Sidi M’hamed in the Algiers province hosted a remarkable community iftar event last night, which garnered widespread attention and participation from across the region. Organized by the Algiers Downtown municipality, this communal iftar saw the concerted efforts of municipal workers, residents, and members of civil society, all joining forces to partake in the festivities.
On May 1st, the iftar tables adorned the streets, stretching from “Aissat Idir” street to the “Civil Harmony Square,” showcasing the grandeur of the event. With over 4000 meals served, the community iftar served as a beacon of unity and solidarity, bringing together families, children, and youth from diverse backgrounds.
A notable aspect of the event was the presence and active involvement of Red Crescent President, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, who played a pivotal role in organizing and overseeing the proceedings. Hamlaoui’s participation underscored the humanitarian ethos behind the event, highlighting the significance of communal solidarity and support during the holy month of Ramadan.
Lotfi Sellami, president of the Sidi M’hamed Municipality, emphasized the importance of hosting the largest iftar table in the region, stressing the need to cultivate a sense of community and unity among Algerian families.
