Algiers, Algeria | September 26th, 2024 — Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC), arrived in Tindouf on Thursday, September 26, 2024, as part of a major humanitarian mission. Her arrival, warmly welcomed by the Governor of Tindouf and local authorities, comes at a pivotal moment when the ARC is actively engaged in critical nationwide initiatives.

Coinciding with the back-to-school season, the ARC is spearheading a large-scale operation to provide essential supplies to students from impoverished families across Algeria. This initiative is part of a wider effort to support marginalized communities and ensure that children, regardless of their economic circumstances, are prepared for the new academic year. The ARC’s contributions include distributing school supplies, uniforms, and other necessary items to mitigate the educational inequalities exacerbated by financial difficulties.

Dr. Hamlaoui’s visit to Tindouf aligns with the ARC’s broader strategy to address urgent humanitarian challenges throughout the country. Alongside the back-to-school campaign, the ARC is involved in flood relief efforts and other initiatives aimed at assisting Algeria’s most vulnerable populations, particularly in remote and underserved regions.
