Algerian Religious Affairs Minister Belmehdi Meets President of Religious Affairs of Turkey in Istanbul

Algiers- Algeria, May 14, 2024 – In a bid to bolster cooperation in religious affairs, Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi, held talks with the President of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Sheikh Ali Erbas, in Istanbul on Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry.
During the meeting, both sides reflected on the “long-standing historical relations” between Algeria and Turkey, exploring avenues to strengthen cooperation in religious matters. Additionally, they discussed the preparations for the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement.
The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs’ attendance at the Consultative Summit of Islamic Scholars, hosted in Istanbul.
