Algerian Religious Affairs Minister hails initiatives of Islamic cultural centre in Doha

ALGIERS- During his official visit to Qatar last week, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments of Algeria, Youssef Belmahdi, expressed his admiration for the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center’s efforts in promoting Islamic culture and Qatari heritage. The center has been instrumental in providing awareness programs to both residents and visitors in multiple languages.
Dr. Saleh bin Ali al-Marri, the General Manager of the center, gave the Algerian minister a tour of the facility, highlighting the various departments and the nature of their work. The heritage hall, which showcases Qatar’s rich cultural history, and the main cultural hall, which provides a comprehensive understanding of Islam and Muslims, were also showcased. Dr. al-Marri emphasized the importance of visual and spatial presentation in effectively conveying the nuances of Islamic culture.
The Algerian Minister of Endowments also commended Qatar’s efforts in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, particularly the cultural messages that were displayed during the opening and closing ceremonies. The minister’s visit to the center underscores the importance of promoting cultural exchange and understanding between nations.
As part of the centre’s initiative, a program was held to visit the Imam Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahab Mosque, which was attended by 212 people from various nationalities, including English, Spanish, and Russian. The participants learned about the mosque’s landmarks, religious rituals, and its most prominent roles in the Muslim community.
Seventeen students from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) visited the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, where they learned about the features of Islamic culture and Qatari heritage.
The centre also organized a program to teach new converts in the presence of 199 converts in the three branches of the centre: the main headquarters, the industrial branch, and Al Khor branch, coming in line with the centre’s interest to provide converts with the best programs and knowledge that suit their needs.
