Algerian Senate Condemns European Parliament’s Interference in Internal Affairs: A Strong Rejection of External Interference

Algiers, Algeria | December 5th, 2024 — In a firm statement that underscores Algeria’s commitment to sovereignty, the Algerian Senate (the Council of the Nation) has expressed its vehement condemnation and rejection of any foreign interference, particularly from the European Parliament, in the internal affairs of the country.

The Senate, led by Speaker Salah Goudjil, emphasized the gravity of such actions and rebuked the European parliamentarians who, supported by French lobbying groups, shamelessly commented on Algeria’s freedom of expression.

In the press release, the Senate pointed out the hypocrisy of those in the European Parliament who remain silent on the atrocities committed by Zionist war criminals against Gaza, while simultaneously accusing Algeria of “anti-Semitism” for voicing its stance against such acts. The statement criticized European lawmakers for turning a blind eye to the Zionist entity’s violations of international law and failing to take any meaningful action against the perpetrators.

Furthermore, the Senate reaffirmed Algeria’s sovereignty and the constitutional right to freedom of expression, which is enshrined in the country’s 2020 Constitution. It emphasized that Algeria’s legal and judicial systems are equipped to deal with any violations, and that the country’s leadership under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is committed to protecting its national values and defending its independent decision-making process.

The statement also highlighted Algeria’s strength and resilience, asserting that the nation is well-positioned to resist any attempts at provocation or pressure, emphasizing its ability to maintain political and economic independence, and pursue its strategic goals without external interference. Algeria’s unwavering commitment to its national interests and sovereignty remains a cornerstone of its policy moving forward.
