Algerian Senate Condemns Macron’s Remarks as a Political Crime

Algiers, Algeria | January 09th, 2025 — The Bureau of the Council of the Nation, led by Salah Goudjil, has vehemently condemned recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding Algeria, denouncing them as a “political crime” and a flagrant act of diplomatic misconduct.

In a statement released Wednesday, the upper chamber of Parliament described Macron’s remarks as a “reckless deviation from diplomatic norms, an egregious breach of international relations standards, and a hostile political act.” The Bureau asserted that such comments represent a clear violation of state sovereignty and an affront to Algeria’s national dignity, sparking widespread indignation among the Algerian people.

Highlighting Algeria’s unwavering independence, the statement reaffirmed that under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s leadership, the nation remains committed to rejecting all forms of foreign interference while upholding the principles of the November Revolution. The Council concluded with a firm reminder that the Algerian people, having endured decades of colonial oppression, remain resolute in safeguarding their sovereignty and national honor.
