ALGIERS- In a recent announcement by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), prolific forward Amine Gouiri has departed from the national team’s training camp on Monday morning.
According to the FAF statement, the Stade Rennais striker was notably absent from the squad traveling to Togo due to an injury, as confirmed by the same source. Gouiri’s absence marks a significant setback for the Algerian national team as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2023.
National team coach Djamel Belmadi disclosed on Monday the departure of one of the initially selected 26 players for the CAN 2023, emphasizing that there will be no replacement for Gouiri. Consequently, the Algerian squad is set to proceed to the Ivory Coast with a reduced roster of 25 players.
