Algerian Sugar Industry Explores Strategic Partnership with American Firm Reasol

ALGIERS- Algeria’s sugar refining company, Tafadis, a subsidiary of the Madar Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American company Reasol to jointly develop an integrated sugar industry project. The agreement was formalized during a meeting between Madar Group and a delegation of American businesses currently visiting Algeria, organized by the U.S.-Algeria Business Council (USABC) to explore investment opportunities.

The memorandum lays the groundwork for a strategic partnership between Tafadis and Reasol, a reputable Texan firm in the agro-food sector. The collaborative project aims to encompass large-scale cultivation of sugar beets and their industrial transformation, ultimately producing 100% Algerian white sugar that meets international standards.

Through this strategic partnership, Tafadis aspires to expand its export reach and particularly penetrate the American market. The collaboration is expected to enhance the production capacity of Tafadis and contribute to the growth of Algeria’s sugar industry.

The meeting between Madar Group and the American business delegation was characterized by fruitful discussions on the prospects of cooperation and partnership. Amara Charaf-Eddine, CEO of Madar Group, expressed satisfaction with the high-level exchange, affirming the substantial potential for joint projects and investments in various strategic sectors.

“We are delighted to have engaged in discussions with this high-level delegation from the United States. This fruitful exchange confirms the strong potential for investment and common projects between our companies in numerous strategic sectors,” stated Amara Charaf-Eddine.

The American business representatives conveyed their interest in the Algerian market and expressed a willingness to explore new industrial and technological partnerships with Madar Group. Such collaborations aim to strengthen economic cooperation between Algeria and the United States, fostering mutual benefits.

Tafadis, established by the Madar Group in 2022 with an initial capital of 10 billion dinars, operates in sugar refining, production, and marketing, boasting an ultra-modern refinery with a daily mixed production capacity of 2,000 tonnes.

Reasol, primarily active in the oil and gas industry, offers specialized solutions and products for global energy and infrastructure markets. The collaboration signifies a cross-sectoral alliance between Algerian and American entities, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial ventures in the sugar industry.

This strategic partnership aligns with Algeria’s goal to strengthen its economic ties and diversify its industries through international collaborations, showcasing the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
