Algiers, Algeria | October 23rd, 2024 — In a significant declaration to Dzair Tube, Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Tayeb Zitouni spoke during the Algerian-Qatari Business Forum, which took place alongside the Algerian Products Exhibition in Doha. His remarks emphasized the strong political will of both nations to bolster their strategic partnership.
Zitouni described the current climate as “a promising horizon, a very positive horizon, filled with hope and a sense among all economic actors, whether Qatari or Algerian.” He underscored the realistic foundation of this optimism, stating that it is built on a solid roadmap with multiple phases. “We have embarked on large-scale structured projects with our Qatari brothers, and this exhibition has revealed many available opportunities as well as the hope for further developing our political relationship into profitable economic relations and trade exchanges for both parties—Qatari exporters and Algerian importers alike,” he explained.
He elaborated on the broader significance of this partnership, highlighting the importance of moving beyond mere trade to establish a partnership based on integration, exchange of expertise, and achieving common goals. “Today, with our brothers in Qatar, we have reached the conviction that our relationship with Qatar goes beyond trade; it encompasses partnership, integration, and a mutual exchange of experiences and development. We aspire to move together toward better horizons, towards a brighter future that will benefit both our peoples and our leadership,” Zitouni stated.
He also outlined the potential for these collaborations to positively impact not only the economies of Algeria and Qatar but also the Arab region and the African and Asian continents. “Today, we have identified numerous projects, priorities, and common goals that will guide us toward specific partnerships and trade exchanges. These projects have been meticulously studied,” he said.
Zitouni highlighted the substantial import of powdered milk, valued at over a billion dollars, expressing the desire for Qatari investments to generate this added value in Algeria. “Why not be a locomotive for exporting this product together, aiming to establish ourselves as a hub for global food stability?” he concluded, reflecting the ambitious vision for collaboration between Algeria and Qatar.
