Algiers, Algeria | October 1st, 2024 — During a visit to the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products (ANPP) in Algiers on Monday, Minister Ali Aoun issued directives to simplify the registration process for medications through a dedicated digital platform. This initiative underscores a commitment to enhancing efficiency within Algeria’s pharmaceutical operations.
The directives emerged from a broader videoconference discussion involving central and regional directors from Constantine and Oran, where Aoun engaged with various presentations and addressed concerns raised by workers, as detailed in a communiqué from the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production.
Aoun emphasized the importance of accelerating the registration of medications on the digital platform, urging further development to streamline operations and ensure that all dossiers are processed in a timely manner. According to the ministry, a total of 2,708 dossiers have been processed, with 1,568 medication quotas released between January and August 2024. He also highlighted the need for oversight of all regional branches, particularly focusing on training workers across various specialties to maintain high-quality standards.
During his inspection of the ANPP, Aoun noted that the laboratory, which is scheduled to commence operations by the end of October, is poised to become “one of the major laboratories in Africa.” Covering 1,200 square meters, the facility will include seven state-of-the-art units designed to control medications, medical equipment, and vaccines, thereby reinforcing Algeria’s capacity in the pharmaceutical sector.
