Algeria’s Belmahdi, Saudi Minister Sign Key Agreement for Organization of 1446/2025 Hajj Season

Algiers, Algeria | January 14th, 2025 — In a significant step to ensure the smooth facilitation of the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmahdi, signed an agreement with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, on Tuesday in Jeddah for the organization of the 1446/2025 Hajj season.

The agreement, formalized in the presence of key officials, including Algeria’s Consul General in Jeddah, Mohamed Alem, and the Director General of the National Office of Hajj and Umrah (ONPO), alongside other senior ONPO representatives, aims to optimize logistical coordination, ensure high-quality services for Algerian pilgrims, and reinforce bilateral cooperation in the management of the pilgrimage process.

This accord covers essential aspects such as accommodation, transportation, and health services, ensuring Algerian pilgrims can perform their religious duties in optimal conditions. Minister Belmahdi emphasized the importance of this agreement in safeguarding the spiritual and physical well-being of pilgrims, reflecting Algeria’s commitment to uphold the sanctity and smooth execution of the Hajj pilgrimage.

For his part, Minister Al-Rabiah reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to provide all necessary support and infrastructure, underscoring the Kingdom’s continuous efforts to improve the Hajj experience for all Muslim nations. The collaboration will see enhanced administrative measures, better crowd management protocols, and streamlined visa processes tailored for Algerian citizens.
