Algeria’s Bengrina Condemns Assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Calls for Unity and Resistance in Face of Zionist Aggression

Algiers, Algeria | July 31st, 2024 —  Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El-Bina El Watani movement, has issued a powerful statement condemning the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent Palestinian resistance leader. The statement, delivered in a heartfelt address, condemns the cowardly act of violence perpetrated by the Zionist entity and its allies, calling it a blatant violation of international norms and an escalation in the ongoing genocidal war against Gaza.

In his statement, Bengrina invoked the Quranic verse: “And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.” He expressed his belief that Ismail Haniyeh, now martyred, has ascended to his Lord and stands as a witness for his nation and humanity in the sacred struggle for justice and liberation.

Bengrina criticized the assassination as part of a broader pattern of targeted killings of resistance leaders, citing previous figures, such as Sheikh Ahmed Yassine, Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, and other prominent jihadist leaders. He described this act as not merely an isolated incident but as part of an ongoing series of attempts to undermine and eliminate the resistance movement and its leadership.

The statement highlighted the assassination’s implications for the broader geopolitical landscape. Bengrina pointed out that the attack, occurring on Iranian soil, signifies an expansion of the Zionist entity’s aggression and a blatant disregard for international laws and conventions. He emphasized that this act represents a serious breach of international norms and a direct violation of Iran’s sovereignty, entitling Iran to respond in accordance with international law.

Bengrina also called for solidarity with the Palestinian cause, urging Palestinians and the international community to continue the struggle for justice and liberation. He expressed condolences not only to Haniyeh’s immediate family and followers but also to all free people and nations committed to the Palestinian cause. He framed the resistance as a sacred duty that must continue with renewed vigor, unity, and resilience.

The El-Bina El Watani leader’s statement concluded with a call to action for all resistance forces to draw inspiration from the martyrdom of leaders like Haniyeh, using their sacrifices as guiding lights in the ongoing battle for justice. Bengrina quoted another Quranic verse, “And give good tidings to the patient. Who, when disaster strikes them, say, ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.’ Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are rightly guided.”
