Algiers, Algeria | September 30th, 2024 — Ahmed Badani, Minister of Fisheries and Fishery Production, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting investors in fish feed production during a meeting held on Monday with Sofiane Boudoukha, President of the Inter-Wilayas Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture for the Wilaya of Sétif. The meeting, part of an ongoing dialogue with provincial chamber leaders, addressed the Chamber’s concerns and explored strategies to further develop the fish feed industry.
Minister Badani emphasized the strategic significance of fish feed production within Algeria’s aquaculture sector. He assured that the ministry is working diligently to eliminate obstacles for investors by collaborating with partner sectors, thus fostering a more conducive environment for industry growth.
Sofiane Boudoukha commended the ministry’s efforts, particularly highlighting the introduction of a subsidy for freshwater tilapia aquaculture. The subsidy includes an incentive bonus of 50 DA per kilogram of tilapia produced, which is poised to enhance fish production and contribute to Algeria’s food security goals. This initiative is expected to stimulate the sector and encourage broader investment, especially in freshwater aquaculture.
