Algiers, Algeria | January 25th, 2025 — The Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry, Houria Madahi, presided over a pivotal preparatory meeting on Saturday, January 25, 2025, to strategize and ensure the successful execution of the upcoming summer tourism season. The meeting laid out ambitious plans aimed at transforming Algeria into a premier destination for both domestic and international tourists.
During her address, Minister Madahi emphasized that the success of the 2025 summer season hinges on the implementation of several key measures. Central to her vision is the enhancement of tourism services to meet the expectations of visitors and attract a larger influx of tourists. “Our goal is to elevate the quality of services across the tourism sector to position Algeria as a competitive and desirable destination,” she remarked.
A Comprehensive Vision for Tourism Excellence
A cornerstone of the ministry’s strategy is the integration of digital solutions into tourism services. Minister Madahi stressed the importance of advancing digitalization in areas such as reservations and dining, as well as improving transportation infrastructure to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for vacationers. She announced plans to compile a comprehensive guide showcasing Algeria’s diverse tourist destinations, which will serve as an essential resource for promoting the country’s vast cultural and natural wealth.
The minister also underscored the significance of coastal cities as focal points for summer tourism. With Algeria’s rich coastline offering pristine beaches and unique cultural experiences, efforts will be made to further develop and market these destinations to both domestic and international audiences.
Empowering Traditional Craftsmanship and Wellness Tourism
In addition to bolstering mainstream tourism, the ministry is committed to strengthening the craft industry. Minister Madahi highlighted the need to support artisans by encouraging their participation in promotional events and exhibitions at the local and national levels. “Traditional crafts are an integral part of Algeria’s identity, and their development is key to enriching the tourist experience,” she stated.
The minister also emphasized the untapped potential of wellness tourism, particularly in leveraging Algeria’s thermal springs and spa facilities. She called for the optimization of available resources and the provision of high-quality services in this niche sector, which holds significant appeal for both local and international visitors.

Minister Madahi concluded by calling for a unified approach to addressing the challenges faced by the tourism sector. She urged stakeholders to work collaboratively and consistently to position tourism as a vital pillar of Algeria’s national economic development. “The tourism sector faces challenges that require ongoing cooperation and dedication to make it a cornerstone of our economic growth,” she affirmed.
