Algiers, Algeria | October 1st, 2024 — On October 1, 2024, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, led a pivotal technical meeting at the National Housing Bank. This session aimed to evaluate the housing distribution process that took place on July 5 and to prepare for the upcoming distribution scheduled for November 1, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution.
Key officials from the Ministry of Housing were present, including the Secretary General, Inspector General, and Directors General of Housing, Urban Planning, Architecture, and Construction. The meeting also included representatives from the National Agency for Housing Improvement and Development (AADL) and directors from housing and urban planning across 16 provinces, such as Chlef, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, Oran, and more.
Minister Belaribi evaluated the distribution of 251,890 housing units nationwide from July, emphasizing the public rental housing scheme slated for November 1. Specific allocations discussed for this upcoming distribution included 1,597 units in Oran, 900 in Tissemsilt, and 1,000 in Ouargla.
Additionally, the rental sale scheme under the “AADL 2” program was addressed, noting that several provinces had completed their distributions, while others, including Chlef, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, and Oran, were still in the process.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming anniversary, Minister Belaribi reaffirmed the commitment to providing dignified housing and financial support to rural residents, which he views as a way to bring joy to thousands of Algerian families.
The meeting also reviewed the preparations for implementing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s ambitious plan to construct 2 million housing units. A presentation on land availability for the “AADL 3” program revealed approximately 8,558 hectares across the 16 provinces, reflecting the collaborative effort with local governors.
To ensure sustainable urban planning in line with contemporary architectural standards, the Minister instructed the Director General of Urban Planning, Architecture, and Construction to dispatch ministry representatives for inspections of the land plots.
