ALGIERS- In a move aimed at enhancing the passenger experience and improving affordability, the CEO of the Algerian Airport Services and Infrastructure Management Company (SGSIA), Mr. Said Mokhtar Mediouni, has urged merchants operating within the airport premises to reduce the prices of consumer products.
During a meeting held last Wednesday with active commercial partners at the Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, Mr. Mediouni addressed the concerns raised by these partners, particularly regarding rental prices. He promised to review the rental procedure to ensure fairness, as stated in a press release by SGSIA.
In return for this accommodation, the CEO emphasized the importance of his partners’ commitment to enhancing service quality. Additionally, he requested a downward revision of prices for products, specifically targeting essentials such as water and coffee, according to the same source.
As the largest airport infrastructure in the country, Algiers’ Houari Boumediene Airport serves as a vital hub for domestic and international travel, accommodating a substantial flow of passengers. In 2022, the airport welcomed approximately 6.5 million travelers.
Looking ahead to the current year, the Algerian Airport Services and Infrastructure Management Company (SGSIA) projects a significant increase in passenger traffic, estimating that the number of travelers passing through the airport will reach between 9 and 9.5 million in 2024.
The call for reduced prices aligns with efforts to enhance the overall airport experience and ensure that passengers have access to affordable amenities during their travels. It underscores the commitment of airport authorities to prioritize passenger satisfaction and convenience.
