Algiers, Algeria | September 11th, 2024 —Brahim Merad, Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Regional Planning, assessed the damage caused by recent storms during his visit on Wednesday to the wilaya of Naâma.
In his inspection, Merad examined the measures implemented to address the situation, emphasizing the importance of assisting affected individuals and ensuring their safety and property protection. The Ministry’s official communiqué highlighted the government’s swift response to the disaster.
Accompanied by Taha Derbal, Minister of Water Resources, Merad visited the Ain Sefra area to assess local relief efforts following the heavy rains. He expressed the state’s support for those affected, in line with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to prioritize citizens’ well-being under all circumstances.
“The state institutions and civil society actors are fully mobilized to restore normalcy,” stated Merad, assuring that all damages would be documented, and compensation would be provided to those impacted.
The minister also praised the solidarity shown by citizens during this difficult period and noted that the substantial rainfall in the region had contributed to a rise in underground water levels.
