Algiers, Algeria | June 23rd, 2024 — To date, fourteen political parties have expressed their support for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s bid for a second term. Following the endorsements from El Bina, which has rallied nine parties under its leadership, the FLN, El Moustakbal, RND, and Sawt Echaâb have also joined in support.

Unanimous Endorsements from Key Parties

El Moustakbal, the RND, and Sawt Echaâb unanimously endorsed Tebboune’s second term yesterday. These parties emphasized the importance of the reforms initiated during his presidency and the need to continue these structural changes to ensure Algeria’s stability and prosperity. They highlighted significant progress in modernizing the administration, simplifying bureaucracy, and developing infrastructure.

Calls for Continuity and Stability

At a press conference in Algiers, Fateh Boutbik, leader of El Moustakbal, urged President Tebboune to run for a second term in the upcoming election on September 7, 2024, citing the “supreme interests of the nation.” Boutbik emphasized the need for Tebboune to continue the reform process to build a new Algeria free from political polarization. He encouraged party members to participate massively in the election to ensure its success.

Reinforced Endorsements

The RND also called for Tebboune to run again. At the close of an extraordinary session of its National Council in Algiers, the RND issued a communiqué underscoring the need to complete the structural reforms initiated by Tebboune. Mustapha Yahi, the party’s secretary-general, stated that the RND calls on the President to preserve social and economic achievements and continue the necessary reforms.

Similarly, Sawt Echaâb expressed full support for Tebboune. During an extraordinary session, Lamine Osmani, the party president, emphasized their support is based on a deep conviction in the President’s ambitious program.

With fourteen political parties now backing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for a second term, Algeria’s political landscape is preparing for a significant election. These endorsements reflect a broad consensus on the importance of continuing Tebboune’s reforms, aiming for greater stability, prosperity, and national unity.
