Algiers, Algeria | June 21st, 2024 — 26 candidates for the upcoming presidential election on September 7 have collected the necessary voter and elected official subscription forms as required by the electoral law. This process must be completed by July 13, according to Article 251 of the electoral regime law, which states that a candidacy declaration must be submitted no later than 40 days following the publication of the presidential decree convening the electoral body. This decree was issued on June 8.

Legislative and Electoral Hurdles

Candidates who successfully navigate this initial legislative hurdle will need to persuade voters based on the platforms and programs they will present during the electoral campaign. The economic aspect will be a crucial factor in the race to El Mouradia.

The competition will be intense as candidates vie for the support of the electorate, promising various economic reforms and development plans to improve the nation’s welfare. The process ensures that only those who can garner sufficient support from voters and elected officials proceed to the final stages of the election.

This critical phase of collecting subscriptions is a vital step in demonstrating a candidate’s viability and support base, which will be pivotal as they move towards the September election. Candidates must work diligently to gather the required endorsements, proving their legitimacy and potential to lead the country.

Electoral Significance

The upcoming presidential election is a significant event, with each candidate striving to present a compelling vision for Algeria’s future. The election will determine who will steer the country through the next phase of its development, focusing on economic growth, stability, and prosperity for all citizens.
