Algeria’s Presidential Elections – Boutbig: Algeria Takes Giant Strides Towards Global Leadership

Algiers, Algeria | August 19th, 2024 — On the third day of the presidential campaign, Fateh Boutbig, leader of the Front El Moustakbal, delivered a speech in Aïn Defla, drawing attention to Algeria’s significant progress under the leadership of Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He noted that the country has undergone a profound transformation since Tebboune’s election, following a period of political uncertainty in 2019, where calls for a transitional phase were prevalent. These calls, which carried unpredictable consequences, were replaced by a stable and developmental dynamic, thanks to Tebboune’s presidency.

Boutbig praised Tebboune’s reforms, particularly in public ethics, combating hate speech, revising the constitution, and revitalizing the economy away from a reliance on hydrocarbons. He emphasized the importance of these measures in modernizing Algeria and strengthening its economic stability. He also lauded Tebboune’s efforts in integrating youth into political life, citing precise statistics on the inclusion of citizens under forty years of age in parliament and elected assemblies. This focus on youth is critical to ensuring Algeria’s promising future, he argued.

Boutbig also underscored Algeria’s geostrategic challenges and the need to maintain national unity and reject despair, vital to securing the nation’s stability and prosperity. Tebboune’s role in restoring Algeria’s prestige on the international stage was also highlighted, particularly his efforts to elevate Algeria’s position in global forums and his staunch defense of just causes, such as unwavering support for the Palestinian struggle and Western Sahara’s right to self-determination.

Further, Boutbig expressed deep gratitude to the People’s National Army (ANP) for safeguarding Algeria’s security, especially in light of challenges at the nation’s borders. His speech concluded on a positive note, with widespread satisfaction from the audience regarding the achievements of Tebboune’s presidency, spanning from 2019 to 2024.

In another rally held today in Tebessa, Boutbig emphasized Tebboune’s ambitious projects, particularly in the mining sector, which he believes will position Algeria as a global leader. He praised the revival of the Gara Djebilet mine project and the establishment of a railway line between Béchar and Tindouf, both of which have materialized under Tebboune’s leadership.

Boutbig also spoke in Oum El Bouaghi, where he projected that Algeria is on the cusp of an economic transformation, transitioning from a developing to an emerging nation. He urged voters to unite in support of the presidential election on September 7, framing the election as crucial for the nation’s continued progress.
