Algiers, Algeria | June 8th, 2024 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has signed a presidential decree calling for the electoral body to participate in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 7, 2024, according to an announcement from the presidency.
“Based on the Constitution, particularly articles 85 and 91, paragraphs 7, 10, and 11, as well as articles 62, paragraph 2, and 246 of Ordinance No. 21-01 of Rajab 26, 1442 AH, corresponding to March 10, 2021, containing the organic law relating to the electoral law, amended and supplemented, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has signed Presidential Decree No. 182-24 of Dhu al-Hijjah 2, 1445 AH, corresponding to June 8, 2024, convening the Electoral Body to organize early presidential elections on Saturday, September 7, 2024,” the statement reads.
The decree also stipulates that the extraordinary revision of electoral lists will begin on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and will conclude on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
