Algiers, Algeria | August 19th, 2024 — In a fervent address delivered in Annaba on Monday, Mustapha Yahi, Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), called for renewed confidence in independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune ahead of the September 7 presidential election. Yahi’s remarks were made during a large public meeting held at the Mohamed-Boudiaf Cultural Palace, marking the fifth day of the electoral campaign.

Yahi highlighted that re-electing Tebboune would enable him to fully implement his economic program, which aims to significantly boost the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and diversify Algeria’s economic base. According to Yahi, Tebboune’s program is designed to elevate the GDP to approximately $400 billion over the next two years and to decrease Algeria’s reliance on hydrocarbons by expanding investments and exploring alternative revenue sources.

Consolidating Achievements and Moving Forward

Yahi underscored that a second term for Tebboune would be crucial for consolidating the political, social, and economic gains achieved during his first term. He urged Algerians to participate in large numbers in the upcoming election to support Tebboune’s continued efforts and ensure the completion of his economic agenda.

Yahi’s appeal to the electorate emphasizes the significance of stability and continuity in governance to advance Algeria’s development goals. He framed the election as a pivotal moment for reinforcing the progress made and securing the country’s economic future.
