Algiers, Algeria | August 20th, 2024 — As the Algerian presidential election campaign enters its sixth day, candidates are intensifying their efforts to promote their platforms while encouraging citizens to participate in large numbers in the upcoming election on September 7. Emphasizing the significance of this electoral event in securing Algeria’s stability and countering external threats, the candidates are mobilizing support across the country.

Youcef Aouchiche, representing the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), addressed the local community in Tiaret, where he underscored the critical importance of voter engagement in this “decisive moment in Algeria’s history.” He pledged to prioritize innovation and create new investment opportunities for Algeria’s youth, highlighting their potential to propel the nation forward by drawing inspiration from the sacrifices made during the country’s revolutionary struggle.

Policies for the Youth: A Driving Force for Change

Aouchiche placed considerable focus on policies favorable to the youth, emphasizing that his platform would prioritize this key demographic. Meanwhile, political figures backing the independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune have been traversing various wilayas, rallying citizens and urging them to vote in order to confront the challenges facing Algeria.

Fatima Zohra Zerouati, leader of the Tajamoue Amel El Djazaïr (TAJ) party, spoke in Tizi-Ouzou, where she stressed the importance of the September 7 vote as an opportunity for Algerians to stand firm against forces seeking to undermine the country’s security. In Skikda, Fateh Boutbig, leader of the El Moustakbal Front party, was joined by the Secretaries General of the National Democratic Rally (RND) and the National Liberation Front (FLN). Boutbig praised Tebboune’s achievements during his first term, crediting him with preserving national dignity and empowering women and youth, while safeguarding Algeria against destabilizing efforts.

Rallying Support for National Stability and Development

Tahar Benbaïbeche, leader of the El Fadjr El Djadid party, echoed these calls in Bordj Bou Arreridj, urging voters to secure Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s re-election in order to ensure continued national development and stability. Abdelkader Bengrina, leader of the El-Bina Movement, also voiced his support for Tebboune during rallies in Boumerdes and Algiers, emphasizing the President’s role in affirming Algeria’s sovereignty and resisting foreign interference.

Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, candidate of the Society for Peace Movement (MSP), addressed a rally in Tiaret, calling on citizens to vote in defense of Algeria’s future. He warned against threats posed by external forces and described his political vision as forward-thinking, with a strong focus on development, food security, and the optimization of regional resources.

Strengthening Local Development and Combating Corruption

Hassani Cherif also focused on Tiaret’s agricultural and industrial potential, advocating for strategic studies to enhance local development. He committed to fighting corruption and reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies, while promoting digitization and investment. His platform includes plans to reform the educational system, with particular emphasis on higher education and vocational training.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Douibi, Secretary General of the Ennahda Movement, which supports the MSP candidate, called for broad voter participation. He urged Algerians to back the MSP’s candidate, stressing that this election offers a critical opportunity to elect a leader who can truly fulfill the aspirations of the Algerian people.
