ALGIERS– Thirteen (13) tourist projects offering a total capacity of 1,397 beds have been launched in the wilaya of Timimoun, said this Saturday, the local Director of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yamina Tamam.

“These projects, once completed and put into service, will make it possible to strengthen reception capacities and generate more than 453 direct jobs,” she explained to the APS agency, specifying that this large number of projects, endorsed at the level of the wilaya of Timimoun, is due to the interest shown by the sector for the promotion of the quality of tourist services in order to best meet the needs of the guests of the wilaya who frequent the region during the Saharan tourism season, in particular .

According to Ms. Tamam, “the wilaya of Timimoun has recorded, since January 1, 2023 to date, more than 2,074 tourists including 480 foreign tourists of different nationalities”. “The tourism sector in the wilaya of Timimoun experienced a new dynamic in 2023 thanks to the lifting of restrictions linked to Covid-19, as well as the facilities granted by the State to foreign tourists in terms of issuing visas” , underlined the director of the sector.

Indeed, “foreign tourists wishing to visit Algeria through approved national tourism and travel agencies can obtain a regularization visa upon arrival instead of the ordinary visa,” she explained.

The wilaya of Timimoun conceals significant tourist, natural, cultural and archaeological potential, like the hotel “El-Waha El-Hamra” (Red Oasis), the road of the oases, the region of Ighzar, Ksar Amghir and the blue hills, in addition to a rich craft heritage.
