ALGIERS- Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amar Bendjama, issued a response on Thursday evening following the Security Council’s failure to pass the resolution endorsing Palestine’s full membership within the United Nations.

In his statement, Ambassador Bendjama emphasized the determination to rebound with greater strength, leveraging support from the General Assembly to secure full membership for the State of Palestine in the UN. He characterized the setback as merely a stepping stone in the ongoing journey towards achieving Palestine’s full membership status.

Furthermore, Ambassador Bendjama urged those who did not lend their support to Palestine’s admission to reconsider their stance in the future. He underscored the resounding backing for Palestine’s inclusion, asserting that it unequivocally signals the legitimacy of the State of Palestine among the UN membership.

The ambassador also referenced the unwavering commitment expressed by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who affirmed Algeria’s steadfast dedication to advancing the cause until Palestine attains full UN membership.

Moreover, Ambassador Bendjama conveyed profound gratitude on behalf of the Arab Group, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to all those who voted in favor of the resolution put forth by Algeria.
