Algiers Governor Inspects SEAAL’s Readiness to Ensure Potable Water Supply During Ramadan

Authorities Mobilize to Guarantee Uninterrupted Access to Drinking Water Amid Increased Demand

Algiers, Algeria | February 17th, 2025 — In a concerted effort to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of potable water throughout the holy month of Ramadan, the Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, conducted an inspection visit on Sunday to the headquarters of the Algiers Water and Sanitation Company (SEAAL). His visit aimed to assess the company’s preparedness in securing water distribution for the residents of Algiers during a period of heightened consumption.

Upon his arrival at SEAAL’s general directorate, Rabehi was received by SEAAL’s CEO, Lyes Mihoubi, alongside Deputy Director General for Public Service, Amine Hamaden, Algiers’ Director of Water Resources, Kamal Boukercha, and Technical Director, Fadhel Touazi.

During the visit, the Wali was briefed on the various measures and operational strategies put in place by SEAAL teams to optimize the distribution network across the capital. The presentation detailed key efforts to strengthen the efficiency of water transfer systems and reinforce infrastructure to meet the increased demand anticipated during Ramadan.

For his part, CEO Lyes Mihoubi reaffirmed SEAAL’s full commitment to deploying all necessary resources and mobilizing its teams to enhance service quality. He underscored the company’s dedication to ensuring a stable and reliable water supply that aligns with the daily needs of Algiers’ inhabitants, particularly during a time when consumption typically surges.

As part of the inspection, the Wali visited SEAAL’s central laboratory, where he observed firsthand the stringent quality control measures implemented to monitor water safety. The laboratory conducts rigorous daily analyses to ensure that the water supply remains clean and meets the highest health standards.

The visit concluded with a stop at SEAAL’s operational call center, where Rabehi reviewed the real-time monitoring and rapid-response mechanisms in place to address citizens’ concerns. He commended the round-the-clock efforts of SEAAL’s personnel in promptly handling customer inquiries and ensuring efficient problem resolution.
