Algiers, Nouakchott Aligning Strategies for Regional Stability and Economic Cooperation

ALGIERS- Algeria and Mauritania are rapidly enhancing their relations, elevating them to a significant level. In addition to joint economic projects, the two countries are collaborating to provide appropriate political responses to the region’s political and security crises. Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Community Abroad, highlighted this commitment following his audience with the Mauritanian president upon his arrival in Nouakchott.
Expressing concern over regional tensions and international developments, Attaf emphasized the stable nature of both Algeria and Mauritania, positioning them to stabilize their volatile surroundings plagued by destabilizing upheavals and insecurity.
The minister underscored the shared principles and consistent orientations of Algeria and Mauritania, emphasizing their roles as stable and secure nations in a region grappling with instability and insecurity. They are committed to intensifying their joint efforts to positively impact events in the best interest of neighboring countries and peoples.
Attaf’s visit to Mauritania reflects the leaders’ mutual desire to strengthen bilateral relations and elevate them to the highest levels. Furthermore, it underscores their ongoing commitment to enhancing security and stability in the region and neighboring areas.
The current bilateral relations between Algeria and Mauritania are at a historical peak, characterized by significant development and dynamism. This includes mutually agreed-upon complementary and integrated projects between President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani.
Among these projects is the transformative Tindouf-Zouérate land route project aimed at facilitating communication and commercial exchanges between the two countries. Additionally, completion works on two border crossings signify a shared commitment to boosting economic relations.
Moreover, the inauguration of the first Algerian bank and the inaugural permanent fair of Algerian products in Mauritania further exemplify efforts to strengthen economic ties. Additionally, projects focusing on humanitarian and social dimensions are incorporated into bilateral agreements, highlighting the comprehensive nature of Algerian-Mauritanian relations.
Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, conveyed a written message from the Algerian president to Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani during his visit to Nouakchott. This exchange reaffirms the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation and foster regional stability.
