Algiers- In a significant move for Algeria’s industrial development, Ali Aoun, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, launched the production of the new Fiat Doblo during a working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Oran. The visit focused on the Fiat El-Djazair plant, a strategic unit within the Stellantis group, which is central to Algeria’s efforts to revitalize its automotive sector.

Upon his arrival, the minister was greeted with a comprehensive video presentation outlining the current state of the factory and its future prospects, particularly after the completion of key workshops dedicated to welding and painting. Touring these workshops, Aoun was briefed on each stage of the automotive production process and observed the ongoing expansion works. These new sections are expected to bolster local integration, a major pillar in Algeria’s industrial strategy.

The ministry announced the signing of partnership agreements with four accredited local subcontractors. These partners will play a crucial role in supplying and assembling essential components such as wheels, electrical and electronic harnesses, as well as the Sirghaz kits, underlining the government’s commitment to enhancing local content in production.

The highlight of the visit was the official launch of the latest version of the Fiat Doblo, a highly anticipated model in the Algerian market. Aoun also examined a prototype of the “Fiat Doblo vitré,” a variant expected to enter full-scale production before the end of the year, showcasing the factory’s expanding capabilities.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of his visit, Aoun proudly noted the factory’s current output, which stands at four Fiat 500 units and thirteen Fiat Doblo units per hour. He emphasized that these models are highly sought after by Algerian consumers. Looking ahead, the minister revealed the factory’s ambitious plan to produce 24,000 vehicles by the end of the year, with a longer-term goal of reaching 90,000 units by 2025.

The Fiat El-Djazair plant represents a cornerstone in Algeria’s push towards automotive self-reliance and industrial diversification. With local integration at the heart of its operations, and as the country strengthens its partnership with global giants like Stellantis, the future of Algeria’s automotive industry looks brighter than ever.
