ALGIERS- The Governor of Annaba province, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and the deputy mayor of the Chinese municipality of Chongqing, signed a “letter of intent” to establish a twinning and cooperation agreement between the two provinces. This significant development was announced via an official statement on the state’s Facebook page.

During the event, Governor Djellaoui emphasized his strong commitment to leveraging the twinning project with Chongqing, a city with a population of 32 million, to tap into Chinese expertise in various areas, such as city management, infrastructure development, reconstruction, urban planning, investment, tourism, and culture.

Governor Djellaoui also highlighted the province’s determination to complete the construction, reconstruction, and preparation of the new city of Ben Mustapha Ben Ouda in the Administrative District of Dra’ Al-Rich. The aim is to ensure that the highest standards are met, guaranteeing a modern and sustainable living environment for the region’s residents.

The head of the Chinese delegation acknowledged the close cooperation and bilateral relations between Algeria and the People’s Republic of China. He viewed the “letter of trust” as a pivotal starting point for further strengthening collaboration and investment in various fields, including infrastructure, smart industry, city administration and planning, healthcare, environment, railways, and more.

During their visit to Annaba, the Chinese delegation will also embark on exploratory visits to several tourist attractions, historical sites, and scientific and research institutions in Bona.
