ALGIERS- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a powerful speech at the 32nd session of the Arab League, held in Saudi Arabia. In his address, Tebboune emphasized the importance of reforming and modernizing joint Arab action, with a new approach that prioritizes the concerns of the Arab citizen. He stressed that the current situation, with its multiple complications and significant repercussions, requires solidarity and unified action as a community driven by the principle of common destiny.
President Tebboune expressed his conviction that Arab nations have the potential to contribute to defining a better future for their peoples. He thanked Algeria’ supporters for their proposals to activate the Arab League’s role in conflict prevention and resolution and to strengthen the place of young people and innovation in joint Arab action. However, he also emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of these reforms to meet the challenges arising at regional and international levels.
Mr. Tebboune’s speech was a call to action for Arab nations to come together and work towards a brighter future for their citizens. His message was clear: reform and modernization are inevitable, and the time to act is now.
Tebboune recalls the achievements of the Algiers Summit
President Tebboune proudly reflected on the accomplishments of the Algiers Summit, which was held under the banner of reunification. He highlighted the successful initiative to bring together Palestinian factions in Algeria, culminating in the signing of the Declaration of Algiers. The Palestinians have since committed to implementing the planned clauses, and Algeria continues to work closely with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to achieve national reconciliation.
The President also noted that the summit’s reunification theme was realized with the return of Syria, a fellow Arab League member, thanks to tireless efforts. This return holds special significance for Algeria, as it coincides with the commemoration of the May 8, 1945, massacres.
Regarding Palestine, President Tebboune emphasized Algeria’s unwavering support for this central cause. The country has mobilized its diplomatic efforts to garner support for the recognition of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. In line with the Algiers Summit’s decisions, the El-Quds Conference was also held, resulting in the adoption of measures to strengthen the resistance of our Palestinian brothers and sisters in El-Quds Echarif. They face daily criminal aggressions and systematic colonial repression, with little international protection or support.
President Tebboune’s remarks demonstrate Algeria’s commitment to promoting unity and justice in the Arab world. The country’s efforts to support Palestine and bring together Arab nations are a testament to its leadership and dedication to the region’s prosperity.
Upholding the Supreme Interest of Sudan
President Tebboune has once again called upon the Sudanese people to prioritize the supreme interest of their country. He urges them to choose the path of dialogue to resolve disputes and avoid the dangerous drift towards violence that threatens social peace and the unity of the nation.
The President also acknowledged the complex regional and international situation, including Algeria’s hosting of the 31st Arab Summit and the Ukrainian crisis. He emphasized the need for increased cooperation to address challenges related to food and energy security.
Assisting countries in need
President Tebboune reiterated his call for Arab financial resources to be mobilized, particularly the Arab Monetary Fund and other existing funds, to help member countries in urgent need. This aid is crucial to helping these countries cope with the difficult economic situation they face.
To further support the food security of Arab peoples, Algeria will host the first scientific conference on food security in the Arab world this month. The conference will bring together leading Arab specialists and experts to propose scientific solutions and concrete projects.
Overall, President Tebboune’s message emphasizes the importance of cooperation and dialogue to address the challenges facing the Arab world. His call for increased financial resources and scientific solutions demonstrates Algeria’s commitment to supporting its fellow Arab nations.
