ALGIERS- The Arab Parliament has strongly denounced the recent statement issued by the United States regarding the state of religious freedom in Algeria, dismissing its contents as containing inaccurate and misleading information that does not reflect reality.
In an official statement, the Arab Parliament emphasized that issues related to religious freedoms are intricately linked to the societal and cultural specifics of each community. The Parliament firmly asserted that external interference in these matters, under any pretext, is not permissible.
The statement further underscored that the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria is well-known for its moderation and centrism. It highlighted the explicit recognition of religious freedoms and the clear guarantee of freedom of belief in the Algerian constitution and laws.
In the same context, the Parliament praised Algeria’s substantial efforts in upholding religious freedom, commending the wise leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The statement recognized Algeria’s commitment to fostering an environment that respects diverse beliefs while ensuring the protection of religious freedoms for all its citizens.
The Arab Parliament’s condemnation of the U.S. statement reflects a collective stance in defense of Algeria’s sovereignty and the recognition of its efforts in promoting religious tolerance.
