In Algiers, the two sides reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing humanitarian principles, enhancing crisis response, and supporting vulnerable populations through stronger bilateral solidarity.
Algiers, Algeria | April 27th, 2025 — In a meeting held on Sunday in Algiers, the President of the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC), Ibtissem Hamlaoui, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Algeria, Thérèse Luken Ghziel, to discuss avenues for bolstering bilateral humanitarian and solidarity initiatives.
According to a statement issued by the ARC, the discussions centered on strengthening cooperation and partnership in the humanitarian field, as well as exchanging perspectives on effective strategies to support and expand joint humanitarian efforts between the two nations.
The encounter served as “an important opportunity to reinforce bilateral relations in humanitarian action and to explore means of elevating mutual support and solidarity,” the statement highlighted.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ghziel praised the ARC’s tireless efforts and pioneering role in humanitarian work. She lauded the ARC’s initiatives in responding to crises and providing crucial support to vulnerable and marginalized populations, emphasizing that the organization’s dedication has made it a model of compassion and resilience.
Both sides underscored the urgent need to unite efforts to uphold and promote humanitarian principles globally. They agreed on the importance of enhancing capabilities to respond swiftly and effectively to the growing array of humanitarian challenges confronting the international community.
The meeting concluded on a note of mutual understanding and commitment to deepening cooperation, reaffirming that Algeria and Norway share a common vision rooted in solidarity, human dignity, and a proactive approach to humanitarian emergencies.
