ALGIERS- A fleet of Chery car models, a renowned Chinese brand, made, yesterday, Thursday, their way to the port of Jijel. Their purpose? To be presented to the Ministry of Industry, marking an exciting development in the Algerian automotive market.
According to a reliable source closely associated with the car import process, only 11 prototype models arrived yesterday. These models were imported specifically for conformity purposes and to be showcased. However, it is important to note that no shipment of actual cars from the Chery brand has yet taken place.
Among the models that have arrived and are expected to hit the national market in the near future are the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 2 Pro, Arrizo 5, and Arrizo 8. These models promise to bring a fresh and exciting driving experience to Algerian car enthusiasts.
It is worth mentioning that Ali Aoun, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, had previously disclosed to the representatives of the People’s National Assembly on October 5th that 24 companies had been granted accreditation to import cars. This signifies a growing interest in the Algerian market and a positive step towards diversifying the automotive options available to consumers.
Furthermore, Minister Aoun revealed that the total number of Fiat cars imported into Algeria is projected to reach an impressive 70,000 vehicles by the end of this year. Additionally, he shared that the same brand has already imported approximately 35,000 cars thus far, highlighting the popularity and demand for Fiat vehicles in the country.
In addition to Fiat, the Minister also mentioned that the “JAC” brand is set to import 10,000 cars by the end of this year, further expanding the range of choices for Algerian car buyers.
