As special envoy of President Tebboune: Algerian FM in Bamako

ALGIERS- In his capacity as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, arrived this evening in Bamako, the capital of the Republic of Mali, as part of his working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and support peace and stability in this neighboring country.
Upon his arrival, Minister Ahmed Attaf held bilateral talks with his Malian counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop, in the presence of the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs (MDAC), Colonel Sadio Camara, as well as the Minister of Reconciliation, Peace, and National Cohesion, in charge of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement, resulting from the Algiers process.
The bilateral talks were then extended to the delegations of the two countries in a working session which focused on bilateral relations and the prospects for continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation in various vital areas, as well as the prospects for overcoming the obstacles currently hindering efforts to complete the peace and reconciliation process in Mali.
In this context, the two parties reviewed bilateral cooperation in areas related to telecommunications, optical fiber, hydrocarbons, higher education, training and the increase in the number of flights to Bamako with a view to making the latter a continental and regional hub.
Future bilateral meetings in the political, economic and commercial fields were also discussed, as well as the monitoring of the implementation of projects decided by the President of the Republic Abdelmdjid Tebboune for the benefit of the Kidal region, and sponsored by the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development. On this occasion, the head of the Algerian diplomacy renewed the permanent solidarity and the continuous support of Algeria to the Republic of Mali in order to achieve the priorities of the transition phase and to embody the national merits.
Strengthened by Algeria’s attachment to the security and stability of Mali, and by virtue of its leadership of international mediation and the chairmanship of the Committee for monitoring the implementation of the Peace and reconciliation in Mali, Ahmed Ataf reiterated Algeria’s readiness to intensify its efforts to restore and strengthen confidence between the Malian parties who signed the agreement and to support them in achieving the consensus necessary to move forward to preserve the unity of the country and its people.
For his part, Abdoulaye Diop expressed his great appreciation for the tireless efforts made by Algeria under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to support Mali at different levels, especially at this fateful stage in its contemporary history. Also, it was agreed to intensify consultation and coordination between the two parties for the implementation of the Algiers Agreement.
