Assembly of trucks: Representative of Volvo, Renault Trucks submits application for approval

ALGIERS- The company representing the Swedish brands Volvo and French Renault Trucks has submitted an application for approval, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, announced on Thursday.
“The company has submitted an application for approval at the service level of our ministry for examination in order to obtain approval for the assembly of trucks in Meftah in the wilaya of Blida”, he said during a plenary session at the People’s National Assembly (APN).
“The application for granting approval will be examined in accordance with the conditions stipulated by executive decree 22-384 setting the conditions and procedures for exercising the activity of new vehicle dealers and following the order of registration on the digital platform”, he specified, assuring that there is “no decision taken by these services concerning the closure of the factory”.

Located in the Meftah region (Blida), the Volvo and Renault Trucks truck assembly plant has a production capacity of 2,500 trucks per year. It has been closed since 2019.
