ALGIERS- The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, welcomed, on June 1, 2023, a delegation from the Association of African Automobile Manufacturers (AAAM) at the ministry’s headquarters. The AAAM is a prominent automotive association focused on Africa, established in November 2015, and comprising global manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the activity and objectives of the AAAM, which aims to support the installation of manufacturers on the African continent, particularly manufacturers of spare parts, to strengthen the automotive industry sector.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation, with Algeria’s potential to become a promising market in Africa through its membership in the Association. The members of the association presented their plans and vision for launching investments in the field of automobile manufacturing, given the proven opportunities for growth in the automobile market in Africa. Minister Ali Aoun welcomed this perspective, stating that any initiative boosting the automotive industry sector would contribute to the national economy.
In this vein, the Minister emphasized that his department would provide all necessary support to contribute to the success of this process. The meeting was a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between Algeria and the AAAM and promoting the growth of the automotive industry sector in Africa.
