ALGIERS- On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, traveled to Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the behest of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) on Tuesday.
According to the ministry’s statement, the agenda of this extraordinary session “will focus on the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip and the exploration of avenues and means to enable the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to strengthen its efforts and exert effective pressure to effectively contribute to ending the genocidal war endured by the Palestinian people.”
The ministry specifies in its statement that Mr. Attaf’s participation in this meeting will be “an opportunity to reaffirm Algeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its unwavering commitment to continuing its efforts and initiatives aimed at urging the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people.”
The minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the Secretary-General of the OIC, as well as with many of his counterparts participating in the proceedings of this session, the statement added.
