ALGIERS- Addressing all car drivers in Algeria, the National Gendarmerie warned against a violation of the Highway Code, punishable by a fine of 50,000 DA and one year in prison.
In a press release published on its Facebook page “Tariki”, the National Gendarmerie warned against driving in a vehicle that is not compatible with the class of documents held. Possessing a driving license that does not correspond to the type of the car is, therefore, an offense punishable by article 79 of law n° 01-14, amended and supplemented.
Driving without an adequate driving licence: here are the risks involved
According to the same note, driving without an adequate driving licence incurs the driver six (6) to one (1) year in prison. Added to this, a fine of 20,000 DZD which can reach up to 50,000 DZD depending on the dangerousness of the offense.
