Bahrain: Algerian Minister Zitouni to Attend Arab Economic and Social Council Meeting

Algiers- Algeria, May 12, 2024 – Tayeb Zitouni, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, is set to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council (CESA) in Manama, Bahrain, on Sunday. This meeting is part of the preparations for the 33rd ordinary session of the Arab Summit, scheduled for next Thursday, according to a statement from the ministry.
The agenda of the meeting includes the examination of 12 clauses, including the report of the Secretary-General of the Arab League on Arab social action and common Arab development, as well as an emergency intervention plan to address the economic and social repercussions of Zionist aggression in Palestine. This plan was introduced based on a memorandum submitted by the State of Palestine.
Focus on Great Arab Free Trade Area and Arab Customs Union
Discussion topics also include the establishment of the Great Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), the creation of the Arab Customs Union (ACU), and the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security (2023-2028). Additionally, the meeting will address the updated Arab strategy for vocational and technical education (2023), based on the memorandum of the Arab Labor Organization, concludes the statement.
Meeting with CEO of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Minister Zitouni commenced his working visit on Saturday by meeting with the CEO of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Samir Abdellah Nass, as reported in a ministry statement.
During the meeting, the officials discussed cooperation frameworks and trade exchanges between the two countries, as well as the launch of joint investments, the statement said.
