ALGIERS- In a significant stride towards bolstering its presence in the Islamic finance sector, BNA (Bank of Algeria) inaugurated a dedicated branch during which Ms. Athamnia Amina, Head of the Islamic Finance Division, shared notable achievements in this domain. The bank has committed 32 billion dinars in deposits, facilitated over 10 billion DA in financing, established more than 56,000 accounts, and introduced 14 marketed Islamic financial products. With 11 dedicated branches, 104 counters, and a total of 115 representations, BNA is actively contributing to the development of Islamic finance, aligning with national directives on resource collection and financial inclusion.

Ms. Amina hinted at the possibility of new banks exclusively devoted to Islamic finance emerging in response to the growing demand for these products. This potential development would complement existing institutions like Al Baraka and Al Salam Bank.

Deputy General Manager, Brahim Boudjelida, emphasized that BNA, as a commercial and universal bank, is committed to providing not only traditional banking products but also Islamic financial services in Senegal, catering to the diverse needs of clients. Regarding automotive loans, Mr. Boudjelida stated that once locally manufactured products are announced, BNA will introduce offerings to meet customer demands.

This strategic move aligns with BNA’s commitment to expanding its Islamic finance offerings, serving as a pivotal element in its developmental strategy and supporting the national agenda for financial inclusion.
