Belani holds talks with de Mistura

The special envoy in charge of the question of Western Sahara and the Maghreb countries, Amar Belani, talked on Wednesday in Algiers with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, is making a working visit to Algeria, at the end of his first tour in the region, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.

During the talks, “the Algerian delegation reaffirmed Algeria’s position of principle, both on the substantive issue and on aspects related to the format, insisting in particular on the need to engage, when the conditions are met, direct negotiations, in good faith and above all without preconditions between the two parties to the conflict, (the Polisario Front and Morocco) which are identified as such in the resolutions of the Security Council”, according to the press release.
