ALGIERS- Renowned sports commentator Hafid Derradji continues to shed light on the aftermath of the saga that marks the end of national team coach Djamel Belmadi’s era with the Algerian national team. Citing reliable sources, Derradji discloses that the 48-year-old coach announced the end of his journey with the Algerian national team to his players in the locker room after the match against Mauritania.
Derradji, a commentator for the Qatari channel beIN Sports, shares certain aspects of the speech that the national coach delivered to his players in the locker room, before revealing what transpired between him and Sadi.
He asserts that FAF President Walid Sadi had agreed with the national team coach, at the hotel in Bouaké, Ivory Coast, to terminate the contract amicably, without resorting to resignation or dismissal.
After the national team’s return to Algeria, Belmadi and his staff went to the FAF headquarters in Dely Ibrahim, where all of Belmadi’s assistants terminated their contracts with the Algerian Federation. The national coach remained with the FAF president after his staff left the Federation’s headquarters, thereby revealing his revolt against Walid Sadi.
Belmadi stated that he would not sign the amicable termination of his contract with the Algerian Federation unless he receives all the payments, which was not agreed upon immediately after Mahrez and his teammates were eliminated in Ivory Coast.
Although Sadi presented an offer to settle Belmadi’s emoluments for the next three months, the coach refused to sign unless he receives all the payments he is claiming.
After heated debates, the two parties agreed to a 24-hour period for each to contemplate the matter, and Belmadi is expected to contact Walid Sadi and convey his final decision.
Hafid Derradji emphasizes that as of 3:00 PM, Algeria time, on Friday, January 26, 2023, there have been no developments in the Belmadi case, suggesting that something new might unfold on Saturday.
