Belmehdi Meets Lebanese Mufti Sheikh Usama Abdul Razzaq al Rifai

ALGIERS- Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, received Lebanese Mufti and Sharia judge, Sheikh Usama Abdul Razzaq al Rifai, in Algiers on Saturday. During their meeting, they emphasized the significance of cooperation to promote moderation.
In a statement to the press following the audience held at the ministry headquarters, Mr. Belmehdi praised his Lebanese counterpart, commending his qualities as “one of the scholars and preachers noted for their effective presence in guiding students and people in religious matters.” He highlighted that the purpose of the visit was “an exchange of expertise and advice for the improvement of the Muslim nation.”
Sheikh Usama Abdul Razzaq al Rifai, on his part, viewed the visit as “aiming for more communication with the objective of building a moderate individual, capable of understanding Islam as it should be and helping them become good citizens who build and defend their countries, being aware of their responsibility.”
He also lauded Algeria’s honorable stance regarding the Palestinian cause, noting that “this is not strange to Algeria, which sacrificed millions for its liberation.”
Acknowledging Algeria’s scientific revival and civilizational progress, Sheikh Usama Abdul Razzaq al Rifai affirmed that the inauguration of Djamaâ El Djazair reflects Algeria’s identity.
During the visit, the Algerian host received gifts from the Ministry of Religious Affairs on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of independence, including the Braille Quran and the Roudoussi Quran.
