ALGIERS- Representatives from various political parties, employers’ organizations, trade unions, associations, spiritual leaders, and national elites came together to launch the National Initiative to Strengthen Cohesion and Secure the Future. This initiative aims to serve as a framework for consultation, mobilizing national energies to strengthen the home front.
The initiative was launched by up to thirty representatives of national components, who gathered at the headquarters of the El-Bina movement, chaired by Abdelkader Bengrina. Its initiators aim to mobilize responsible elites, living forces of society, state institutions, and national energies to preserve the oath of martyrs, strengthen the homeland, and ensure the future of generations. The initiative also seeks to complete the process of renewal, realize the aspirations of the Algerian people, and promote the well-being and happiness of citizens.
To further advance this initiative, a conference dedicated to strengthening cohesion and ensuring the future will be held in the coming weeks, coinciding with the recovery of national independence and the youth festival. The date for this conference will be defined later.
In a public statement, it was notably emphasized that the world is currently undergoing an accelerated and radical transformation. This transformation has resulted in crisis situations, multiple tensions, and conflicting interests, all of which have had negative consequences for the security, economic, and social development of countries. Unfortunately, Algeria is not immune to these effects.
It was further underlined that national cohesion must be strengthened and the home front fortified in order to effectively confront the threats and risks to Algeria’ security, institutions, and unity. A general mobilization is necessary to advance the country politically, economically, and socially and to ensure a bright future for future generations. The aspirations of the Algerian people for unity, harmony, stability, and development must be realized.
The signatories of the appeal
The appeal has garnered support from a diverse range of political parties, organizations, and unions. Notably, the El-Bina movement, the National Liberation Front (FLN), the National Rally (RND), the ElMoustakbal front, the Voice of the People, the ElKarama party, the Rally of Algerian Hope (TAJ), and the Union of Democratic and Social Forces (UFDS) have all lent their signatures to the cause.
In addition, several prominent organizations have also pledged their support, including the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), the Union National Organization of Algerian Peasants (UNPA), the national organization of the children of chouhada (ONEC), the national organization of mujahideen (ONM), the Algerian Muslim scouts (SMA), the national organization for the protection of consumers (APOCE), the general confederation of Algerian entrepreneurs (CGEA), the Algerian confederation of employers and citizenship (CAPC), and the economic club.
Several unions have also joined the cause, including the Independent National Union of Public Administration Personnel (SNAPAP), the General Union of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (UGCAA), the Union of Pharmacists, and the Association of Algerian Veterinarians.
Furthermore, the general coordination of the zawiyas and the qadiriyya kantiya order in Algeria, as well as the general caliphate of the tijania zawiyas, have lent their support to the appeal.
Finally, the declaration has also been signed by the union of free Algerian students, the national forum of Algerian youth, the Algerian-French organization for rights and freedoms, the observatory for the vigilance of human rights, and the Algerian writers union.
The breadth and depth of support for this appeal is a testament to the importance of the cause and the urgency with which action must be taken.
Bengrina and FFS initiatives
As a gentle reminder, the initiative we are discussing today is the result of a series of preparatory meetings that took place after the call of the head of El-Bina, Abdelkader Bengrina, for a new political initiative that brings together various actors from the national scene. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen the internal front and protect the fabric of society.
Mr. Bengrina launched this initiative during his opening speech at the second party congress. He called on all political parties operating on the national scene to form a strong and solid home front. However, he did not reveal the title or the content of the initiative. He explained that the goal is to bring people together and form a societal fabric to face the dangers that threaten the security and stability of Algeria.
In this context, the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) will soon launch a political initiative with a view to a historic pact for the completion of the national project. The FFS intends to make a concrete proposal to all political partners. This political initiative is aimed at all political forces committed to defending the rule of law, freedoms, and social and intransigent justice. It is also aimed at firmly opposing the inclinations, internal or external, to undermine, under any pretext whatsoever, the integrity and unity of the country, the State, and its institutions.
It is essential to note that these initiatives are crucial for the stability and progress of Algeria. They aim to bring together various actors from the national scene to strengthen the internal front and protect the fabric of society.
