Talks between Algerian officials and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have taken place in a “cordial and constructive” atmosphere, APS learned on Wednesday from a diplomatic source in Algiers.

It was also noted that Algeria has always honored its commitments in the framework of energy cooperation, while pleading for more investment in upstream oil.
On the other hand, the American Secretary of State, at no time mentioned, during his visit to Algeria, the reopening of the Maghreb Europe Gas Pipeline (GME), according to the same source.

Regarding the question of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco, Blinken expressed the support of the United States for the political process of the UN as well as for the efforts of the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Staffan de Mistura. .
According to the same source, the Algerian and American parties have also discussed the humanitarian aspect of the crisis in Ukraine and its impact on issues relating to food security.
